The Amazon music store has been released outside of the US, but not in Ireland.
We’re sorry. We could not process your order because of geographical restrictions on the product which you were attempting to purchase. Please refer to the terms of use for this product to determine the geographical restrictions. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Once again Ireland is the poor relation. We are still waiting for movies in the itunes music store.
Oh well, I’ll just have to look at services like Deezer and maybe even seeqpod.
Update: I’ve decided to try and do something about it.

I’ve been waiting for almost a year now for this alternative to iTunes DRM’ed and overpriced music. Amazon is the perfect alternative and will provided much needed competition. Unfortunately as with much of the goods on Amazon Ireland is excluded.
Is it the irish music rights people that are holding this up or are we just to small a market to be bothered with?
I do not mind paying for my music but I don’t want DRM and I don’t want to rent so again the only web site that seems to have what I’m looking for is the pirate bay.

I would suggest http://ie.7digital.com/ as an decent alternative to iTunes.
Seems to have a good library of tracks and a lot without DRM.

Unfortunately, they (7Digital) know that they have the Irish market by the balls and their pricing reflects that. e.g. a single song (Lady Gaga – Bad Romance) on Amazon.co.uk is GBP 0.29 (EUR 0.32) yet on 7Digital it is EUR 1.49 (GBP 1.33)!!!
